Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which Bloch pointe shoe model is right for my foot?
The right model depends on the shape of your foot, arch, vamp length preference, and how much shank support you need. Dancers with high, flexible arches often do well in structured models like the Heritage or Balance European Strong, while dancers who want a closer, more adaptive fit often prefer stretch styles like the Eurostretch. If you're unsure, our team can walk you through your current shoe's specs to help narrow down the closest Bloch match.
What's the difference between a stretch model and a traditional Bloch pointe shoe?
Stretch pointe shoes use a stretch fabric that molds closer to the foot over time. The outer sole is a split into two pieces, just like a ballet slipper, to accommodate the stretch and flexibility of the specialty satin. The inside of the shoe remains a full shank. Because the fabric adjusts with the foot as it changes shape, the shoe continues to hug the heel even when the foot shortens en pointe. This creates a smoother, more secure fit and eliminates much of the extra material that can appear in traditional satin pointe shoes. Traditional satin pointe shoes tend to hold their shape longer and are often preferred by dancers who like a more structured fit. Both styles are available across multiple brands and price points in our collection.
How is buying five or more pairs different from ordering one at a time?
Ordering five or more pairs of the same model qualifies for 20% off, which is a meaningful savings for dancers or studios who go through pointe shoes quickly during an active season. This works best once you've confirmed your exact size and model fit, since the discount applies to matching pairs rather than mixed styles.
Do demi pointe styles like the Euro Demi replace full pointe shoes?
Demi pointe styles like the Euro Demi and Tensus Demi are worn to transition from ballet flats to pointe shoes. They are designed to provide the correct amount of resistance for foot and ankle strengthening in preparation for pointe. This offers more structure and resistance than a ballet slipper while remaining more flexible than a full pointe shoe.
Do Bloch pointe shoes need to be broken in before wearing them to class?
No. Bloch pointe shoes will likely need to be broken in to each dancer’s preference before a performance, but traditional pointe shoes are best broken in by wearing them during class or rehearsal. Bloch uses different pastes among their models which means every shoe will break in differently. For example, the Heritage uses Bloch’s A-Paste which is a hard paste and may take a few wears before they fit to your preference. Meanwhile, the Flexus uses Bloch’s new B-Paste Pro that is significantly more moldable and will contour to your foot the first time you wear them. Regardless of model, ribbon and elastic need to be sewn on, and many dancers also use a small amount of shank-hardening product to extend the life of the shoe.
